Equipment Testing System


Industrial automation solution for production and quality assurance testing


This technological project involved all Selmatron engineering departments in the planning and design of an integrated automation system for production and component testing, designed for automotive industry applications.

The engineering team’s briefing resulted in the technological project advocated for a system segregated by 5 workstations, with differentiated work objectives, interconnected by a hybrid handling system designed to pick the component from the transport system and place it in an operational JIG. Based on the initial requirements, a conveyor system was implemented to ensure an uninterrupted workflow, with a product buffer capable of keeping the system functional and freeing the operator for other tasks.

The indexing table ensures accurate positioning and enables the equipment to use quick-change JIGs to support new references.

Technological Solution

  • Conveyor Screen

Screen conveyors for performing component entry and exit operations, with a minimum cadence to limit stops.

  • Indexing table

Rotary table for component indexing, with 16 alternating positions and support for 2 references.

  • Handling system

Mechanized handling solution composed of several points, among which, electric axes, pneumatic actuators, vacuum system and mechanical clamps, which move the components as required by the process.

  • High voltage test station

Station for high voltage testing of components to ensure their functionality.

  • Jet marking and checking station

Station with inkjet print controller for component identification and print verification system

  • Rejection station

Rejection of non-conforming product, with distinction by category of marked defect, supported with an accumulation system.


The inclusion of this equipment in the client’s production line, automating a series of previously manual processes, made it possible to create a competitive advantage for the product in question, which in turn boosted its position in a more relevant market share in its specialty.

The automation and validation of the processes introduced in the equipment, together with the flexibility of the design, allowed the expansion to new variants of the product for which the machine had previously been designed.

The success of this project resulted in the replication of the solution to be implemented in a new industrial unit.
